FLIGHT REVIEW
A helicopter flight review is a process that ensures that a pilot is still proficient in flying a helicopter. It is required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) every 24 calendar months for pilots to act as PIC of any aircraft. During the review, a certified flight instructor evaluates the pilot's skills and knowledge to ensure that they are up-to-date with the latest regulations and procedures. The review covers various aspects of flying, including takeoff and landing procedures, emergency procedures, and navigation. The purpose of the review is to ensure that the pilot is still capable of safely operating a helicopter and to identify any areas where they may need additional training. By completing a helicopter flight review, pilots can maintain PIC status and ensure that they are prepared for any situation that may arise while flying.
INSTRUMENT PROFICIENCY CHECK
A Helicopter Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC) is a mandatory evaluation that pilots must undergo to demonstrate their ability to operate an aircraft solely by reference to instruments. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilots to complete an IPC after 12 calendar months to maintain their instrument rating.
If currency requirements have not been meet in the prior 12 calendar months.
The check includes both ground and flight portions, and pilots must demonstrate their proficiency in various, such as holding patterns, approaches, and departures. The purpose of the IPC is to ensure that pilots are competent and confident in their ability to fly an aircraft using only instruments. This is crucial in situations where visibility is poor, such as in clouds or fog, where pilots must rely solely on their instruments to maintain control of the aircraft. The IPC helps to ensure that pilots are up-to-date with the latest procedures and technologies, and that they are able to operate safely in all weather conditions.
